A simple guide to configuring OBS for the Racing View Overlay

Adding the Racing View Overlay to your OBS stream or recording is a great way to give your viewers real-time race data. Follow these simple steps to set it up:

Step 1: Add a new "Game Capture" Source

  1. Open OBS and navigate to the Sources box.

  2. Click the + button at the bottom of the box.

  3. Select Game Capture.

  4. A pop-up will appear. You can name your new source "Racing View Overlay" to keep things organized. Click OK.

Step 2: Configure the Game Capture Properties

  1. Mode: Set this to Capture specific window. This ensures OBS only captures the overlay, not your entire screen.

  2. Window: From the dropdown menu, select [racing_view.exe]: Racing View - Overlay. This is the key step that tells OBS exactly which window to capture (You need to open Racing View with the Overlay enabled to be able to select it).

  3. Window Match Priority: It's best to leave this as Window title must match. This makes the capture process reliable.

  4. Allow Transparency: Check this box. This is critical for the overlay to appear correctly without a background, allowing it to blend seamlessly with your game footage.

  5. Premultiplied Alpha: Check this box as well. This setting works with "Allow Transparency" to ensure the overlay looks clean and professional.

  6. Leave the other boxes (Capture Audio, SLI/Crossfire Capture Mode, and Limit capture framerate) unchecked unless you have a specific need for them.

Step 3: Position the Overlay

Once you've configured the settings and clicked OK, your Racing View Overlay will appear in your OBS scene.

  • You can now click and drag the overlay to the desired position on your screen.

  • To resize it, simply drag the corners of the overlay box to make it bigger or smaller.

And that's it! Your Racing View Overlay is now ready to go live in your recordings and streams.
